Proceedings Steps
The Agency's Proceeding Steps assist Grants Officers to determine the maximum grant. They provide a transparent and consistent basis for granting decisions; it is the Agency's expectation that legal aid providers will be familiar with the steps.
Grants officers do have discretion to make grants beyond the guideline maximum rates. Providers are expected to give detailed justification for such requests.
The Guideline Hourly Rates (GHR) were all amended on 1 July 2009. If you need to invoice work done prior to this date, you can can see previous rates here:
