Having a Decision Reviewed or Challenge a Decision
If you are not satisfied with a decision made by the Agency about your legal aid or you think the repayment calculation is incorrect, you can ask the Agency to reconsider the decision.
You need to tell the Agency why you would like it reconsidered. New or additional information should be included. The matter will be reconsidered by a person other than the staff member who made the decision on the original application.

The person who helped you apply for legal aid can help you with this or you can contact the Agency directly.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the reconsideration you can ask the Legal Aid Review Panel (LARP) to review the Agency’s decision. Click here to search LARP decisions.
LARP is an independent panel that reviews the Agency’s legal aid decisions. The Panel Convenor and other members are appointed by the Attorney-General. Members are lawyers with experience in a range of legal areas and types of proceedings, and non-lawyers with relevant knowledge, experience, and skill.
The grounds for review are that decisions are manifestly unreasonable or wrong in law.
The panel may confirm, modify, or reverse the decision made by the Agency, or ask the Agency to reconsider its decision.
Appeals on questions of law about LARP's decisions can be made to the High Court or Court of Appeal.
